High-availability clusters (also known as HA Clusters) are computer clusters that are implemented primarily for the purpose of improving the availability of services which the cluster provides. They operate by having redundant computers or nodes which are then used to provide service when system components fail.
This chapter examines various issues that may have some bearing on choices you make when configuring your Sun HPC cluster. The information is organized in three general topic areas:
Suggestion: Support for FreeBSD with the GigNIX NIC cards. The original GigaNIX-1000T is supported by the ti(4) device driver, but it does not seem to work with the 1032TPC. Somehow I know that it will not work with the two new 64bit cards (1000TA, 1000TPC)either. Can we look forward to this at all?
